I struggle with wanting to be liked. I take it personally when I'm not - part of this is extreme self reflection and part of this is hating to be misunderstood.
Being misunderstood is akin to not being heard. And not being heard is basically death.
I suppose the challenge is knowing when you need to explain because the recipient wants to hear you vs. explaining because you need to be heard.
The latter is a fool's errand. The former is friendship.
I understand that perspective a little too well. And what has helped me navigate that is realizing that most times, people don't misunderstand you because you didn't communicate effectively, but because they only hear what they want to hear.
So it's hardly a you problem, and there's nothing you can do to change others than to choose yourself.
All of this! I love the words and the careful thought behind each word, and the tone of this piece. I think we can all relate to this. I hope you don't me including the link to this piece in my newsletter as part of touching pieces I've read for the month. I truly loved this!
When you are at peace with who you truly are, you attract like-minded people. You don't have to perform when you are being you. And it's a blessing not to be liked by everyone because not everyone is for you. Great piece, Sprenko 💛
Great article Really well written.

Well said, Lazolia. 👏🏼 Not having to perform simply to be liked or accepted is a blessing, tbh. It oozes freedom. 😅
Thank you. 💛
That part about "it oozes freedom" is it exactly!
You're welcome 😀
This picture brings back so many memories. ⬅️ So this is how my Bris look like when he is 20 years old. 👍😁
Your hair indeed was very curly n volumnised! Lol 🤣
Yeah, that was just before I had braided it that morning. 😂
